What is on the Website?
- Detailed Country Communication Profiles outlining media use, ICT use and the general communication environment in a number of countries (with more being added over the next several months). Most importatntly, this information is broken down by key demographic groupings such as gender, age, income level and region. The profiles use a combination of text, charts, graphics and multimedia to make it easy for users to find the specific information they seek. Starting with just a few initial countries, more Profiles will be added to increase the site's coverage of Africa and other developing regions.
The Communication Profiles contain:
Sectoral and Use Pattern Overviews of Cell Phones, Internet, Radio, Television and Print, as well as the country's Development Context and the Regulatory Environment for Media and ICTs.
Demographic Breakdowns of Media and ICT Use by key demographic groups such as Youth, Women, Low Income and Various Educational Levels, as well as Regional and Urban-Rural Profiles.
Media Outlet Matrixes providing demographic insight on the audiencese of leading radio, TV and other outlets.
Focus Articles from In-Country Analysts on such topics as Community Radio, Cell Phone Innovations in Development, Youth Media Culture and Emerging Online Communities.
Key Country Statistics on Communication, Demographics and Economics for easy reference
